Sony Hack: Failure

There are MANY movies with which I do not agree, for a variety of reasons.  But, protected by the Right of Free Speech which I whole-heartedly endorse, the movie makers make them and people pay money to see them.

North Korea’s cyber-attack on Sony and threats of violence on movie houses and movie go-ers led to theater chain decisions to not show the movie and Sony’s  subsequent decision to pull the movie altogether.  Failure.

The failure does not belong to Sony or the theater chains.  They did not fail in their responsibilities.  The failure lies in Washington and with the Federal Government for not protecting Sony, the theater chains, and the movie go-ers.

Pray we learn from and correct our failures so we do not repeat them (or worse).

Sydney siege

There is a radical disconnect between the facade of Islam and the reality of Islam.  Even though it plays out in public for the world to see, the facade of “a religion of peace” and “we worship the same god as the Jews and the Christians” still deceives many.

The latest example of the deception just concluded in Sydney.

Do actions such as this portray a “religion of peace”?  Does ISIS?  Does either side in the civil war that has decimated Syria?

Do the following words from the Bible capture the essence of the god of Islam and his followers?  Can the God of the Bible and the god of the Koran possibly be the same?  Can Light and darkness be the same?

1John 1:5-7:  This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.

1John 2:10-11  He that loves his brother abides in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.   But he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and knows not whither he goes, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

1John 3:10-11  In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1John 4:20-21  If a man say, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar: for he that loves not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?   And this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother also.

Let us not be deceived.  Let us flee hate and darkness, let us seek Light and Love!

The natural evolution of democracy

The natural “evolution” of democracy. Every form of human government ends in God-lessness. Fortunately, the King of kings and Lord of lords will soon bring an end to man’s reign on earth and set up His kingdom of righteousness. (Personally, I can’t wait!)

In the meantime, the citizens of The Kingdom must 1) make sure their “citizenship papers” are in order, and 2) The Way into The Kingdom is boldly and lovingly proclaimed.

Confusion: doing whatever is right in your own eyes

(Photo posted on the Facebook page “Finish Well”)

I read the following article and was knocked almost speechless.

The sheer magnitude of confusion in our society is about to erupt like a volcano.  We have not just forgotten and neglected the Living God, we have ushered Him out of our society.  Woe!

We stand on the brink of history repeating itself.  To the idolatrous and perverse nation of Judah the Lord said, “That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:  Which say to the seers, ‘See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:  Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.’
Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:  Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly at an instant.   And he shall break it as the breaking of the potter’s vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a shard to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.”  (Isaiah 30:9-14)

Satan is the author of confusion, God is the God of order.  God’s order is revealed to man in His Word, the Bible.  Unless this nation repents of its confusion, it is not going to end well.  If you are confused, seek the God of order while He may be found, then finish well your race.

All I want for Christmas

After you read the following article, I have a question.

My question:  Would anyone be offended and get in my face if all I wanted for Christmas was that American Atheists Inc would shut their mouths?

I mean it lovingly…that they would employ some intellectual honesty, academic discipline, and the measure of faith given to them  (Romans 12:3) to investigate the reality of Jesus Christ.  For starters, honestly consider the radical things Jesus said of Himself in the Gospel of John.  Then perhaps thoughtfully consider the testimonies of Jesus’ early followers in the Book of Acts.

I pray they find the Lord while He may be found (Isaiah 55:1-7).  Otherwise, Jesus will confront them in the ultimate reality of His existence and shut their mouths along with all the others who deny Him.  “Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.  As many were astonished at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men: So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.”  (Isaiah 52:13-15).

It is not Jesus’ desire to shut anyone’s mouth for He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 18:23).  It is His fervent desire that all would repent of their offenses against Him and be saved from death  (Ezekiel 18:30-32,  2 Peter 3:9,  John 11:21-26).  Find a Bible and read the referenced passages to hear Jesus’ heart.

A known unknown

The USA is apparently exploring in uncharted, dangerous waters.  This nation may be going someplace it has never gone before – into an unknown.

The article ends with, “The possibility of sanctioning Israel for its ongoing construction sends a signal that the Obama administration is willing to go further in its denunciations of Israel then any previous White House.  At the same time, the White House is vigorously pushing Congress against passing new sanctions on Iran.”

Yet the unknown into which the USA is venturing is not unknown, it is very well known.  We must not look at US history but at Israel history to see it.

The Maker of heaven and earth, the God of Israel has always dealt with the anti-Israel policies of the nations of the world, just as He promised Abraham He would in Genesis 12:3  (“I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you.”)  The nations/empires that paid for their anti-Israel policies include Egypt, Syria, Edom, Ammon, Moab, Tyre, Sidon, the Philistines, Assyria, Babylon, Greece, Rome, Spain, Nazi Germany, Britian, and the USSR.  The Lord God of Israel either took those nations/empires “down a notch or two” or He destroyed them.  The Scriptures often referred to as the Old Testament gives us the history of Israel from which we are to learn  (1 Corinthians 10:1-11) this truth.  Ezekiel 25 – 32 gives a concise illustration of Genesis 12:3.

Israel is the “apple of My eye”, says the God of Israel.  He loves them with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3).  He takes very Personally an attack on her by other nations.  In Zechariah 2:8 the Lord promises His people Israel that He will deal with “the nations which spoiled you: for he that touches you touches the apple of His eye. ”  To poke Israel in the eye is to poke the God of Israel in the eye.  And God does not like being poked in the eye!

“This (punishment for their crimes against Israel) shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts,” He says in Zephaniah 2:10.

The USA is playing with fire, the heavenly fire of judgment with a lengthy history, and is going to get burned unless the charted course is reversed.  Those who do not learn from history repeat it.

PS:  A coalition of nations (Russia, Iran, Ethiopia/Egypt, Libya, Turkey according to many Biblical scholars) will invade Israel in the near future.  They will poke the God of Israel in the eye and He will rise in His fury and destroy 5/6 of the invading army.  And His people Israel and all the nations of the world will know it was He who did it.  Read Ezekiel 38-39.

Starbucks: Strike 1

Since Starbucks is openly hostile to the Biblical definition of marriage, why are so many Christians such loyal Starbuck’s customers? Why are many churches friendly with Starbucks, having Starbuck’s stores in their churches and on their campuses? Starbucks has taken an “anti-christ” stand. Will Christians take a “Christ” stand? Is Jesus watching? Does He care?

What is needed in Ferguson

I watch with a broken heart the goings on in Ferguson, MO, the last two nights.  And last night saw rioting and looting and violence in Oakland, CA, and other cities.

What is needed in Ferguson to calm the hearts of the people, our fellow citizens?

1.  Order

2.  Calm, rational, respected leadership

3.  The due process of Law

The Word of God presents an account of a visit by the Apostle Paul in Ephesus that illustrates what is needed in Ferguson.  Found in Acts 19:21-41 and included below, this account can guide us in these days.  The Word of God can guide us all of our days, if we would but submit to the order and leadership of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd.

“After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.  So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timothy and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.  And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.  For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.  Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:  So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at naught; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.  And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.  And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theater.  And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.  And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theater.  Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.  And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defense unto the people.  But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.  And when the town clerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knows not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshiper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?  Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.  For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.  Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.  But if ye inquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.  For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.  And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.”
